Valentine's Day

Cannolis are my  favorite dessert.  I've only eaten them from New York bakeries (when I lived there and when I would go back and visit) with my friend Lia (who introduced me to them). But this Valentine's Day I decided to try to make them myself in violation of both my unspoken rules.

The filling turned out great (it is hard to mess up ricotta and powdered sugar) and was incredibly delicious.  But I thought the shells were too dense and rubbery.  I'm not sure I'll try again.  I think I will wait until the next time I am in New York.  More fun that way.

This picture is actually of the left overs the next day, they were prettier before the pink sugar garnish absorbed into the dough.
Gillian really, really loved them and ate most of them.
