My Stats

So today I did the math of how my body has spent the past 7 years (April 2002-April 2009).

During the past 7 years I have spent:

2.42 years pregnant (34.52%)
1.83 years nursing (26.19%)
2.75 years (39.29%) not nursing and not pregnant

In 7 years, I have shared my body with my children 60.71% of the time or 4.25 years.

During the 2.75 years I had the luxury of my own body, I spent 1.17 years at a "good weight" (which has less to do with weight and more to do with feeling like I had my own back).

So in the past 7 years, I have had what I consider "my body" for 1.17 years.

I think I am going to stop being so hard on myself for not having my body exactly where I want it. As my sister-in-law Sara said, "considering how many children you have had in the amount of time you have had them and how big your babies were--you should give yourself at least 4 more years before you start freaking out about things."

Thank goodness for sisters with the reassuring voice of reason.

Thank you for posting that! I really needed to hear that today. We really should cut ourselves some slack!

Thanks for the props Buffy! Now, if only I could follow my own reasoning. I'm dreading the coming massive drop in self-esteem that comes along with the droopy post-partum spare tire . . . in about 1 week! Your job will be to tell me the same thing for the next few years! ;)

All I can say is, my babies were worth it! And my body told me to "chill" as far as expectations after all 8 of my pregnancies and deliveries, even the two who didn't make it. A consistent exercise program of some sort--any that you will want to stick with when the time is right will soon return the self-esteem that comes from the body you've related to all your life, but your self esteem that comes from the sense of accomplishment and your importance to those you are grooming to improve the world should be off the charts right now! (You didn't even mention that you became a bonafide lawyer during that time!)

Love to you AND Sara from Amanda, a not very objective observer

I think that both pregnant Buffy and post-partum Buffy are two of the hottest women I've ever had the pleasure of knowing.
