***Addendum
There isn't really a story behind the cake. Gillian asked for an apple cake and that is what she got (after specific clarification about whether she wanted a cake shaped like an apple or a cake made out of apple).
It was actually the easiest, most low key time I've had making a cake ever. And it was by far the most delicious. Normally, I peel the fondant off the cake prior to eating it. But this time, I added almond flavoring to the marshmallow fondant and I added salt and almond flavoring (instead of vanilla) to the buttercream frosting. All those flavors added together with the cake was the yummiest thing I have had in a long time. Generally birthday cake is not my favorite--but I may have to change my ruling on that.

Is there a story behind the apple cake? I love it! And I adore all of the pictures of the birthday girl. She's such a doll. I didn't realize how close in age our girls are!
What an adorable cake :) You did an awesome job. Happy Birthday Gigi. Did you get the birthday cards we sent? Sorry they were late - I bought them and then hid them from myself. What a dork. Anyway, happy birthday, G :)
Wow, that is a gorgeous cake, and a gorgeous birthday girl!!! I knew you had cute kids--no news there, but seriously, that cake is awesome. Did you just cut the cake into an apple shape?
You're cake is amazing! Those are cute pictures of Gillian, I can't believe she is 6! She is so beautiful!
