When James asked me if he could dye is hair red, I was momentarily stumped. Tim and I have a strict "we don't care what you do with your hair" policy but I honestly hadn't considered it kicking in so soon and I had serious reservations about actually dying my 6 year old's hair.
Then I remembered the Kool-Aid trick and it was decided. So I let James and Gillian both pick out a color (James red, Gillian pink; although in actuality, they both got red, don't tell Gigi) and I read up on it and went to work.
I instantly realized that I had forgotten to wear gloves...oops. But that was not the worst of it.
Apparently, Kool-Aid is not kind to open wounds. I had several scratches on my hands (from the squash and cucumber plants) and it really stung like the dickens. James had just had his hair cut, and so I think he had a lot of little scratches on his head and Gillian, well, she just doesn't have that healthy of a scalp period.
I instantly put them both in the bath and was met with an astonishing amount of gore.

Hilarious! I hope the kids realize what an awesome mom they have!
You are such a fun mom... I don't even compare! I never in a million years would have the guts to do that to my kids hair! But, oh how they would love it!
That is SO funny. :) See, that is why you always go to a salon to get your hair colored. (I'm not insulting your color technician skills Buf, I'm just saying- no one wants to clean up that pink ring in the tub.) I'm going to point Ryan to this post when I next go in to get my hair red. (Which will be sooner than later.)
That is hilarious! I hope they didn't try to drink the bath water. :D I probably just said that only because I have a two year old and a one year old that would.
Buffy do you want to dye our hair next time together? =)
You are such a nice mom, because that looks like a lot of work. I like the idea of just not caring what your kids do with their hair. Especially since I grew up with so much hair style oppression.
I just happened to look at this post again and that picture of James yelling is just so funny and sad at the same time. What a great shot & story. :) This made me laugh all over again.
