Our First Family Hike

Some of my best memories growing up were my dad taking us hiking through the Shawangunk, Catskill, and Mohonk mountains. I have wanted to start that tradition and love with my own children, but hiking isn't as easy to find here as it is in Utah (i.e. not in your backyard) and Tim is not much of an outdoorsy guy.

But since Tim is gone and since we are likely leaving VA soon and I knew we had a lot of State parks in the area, I did some research and we went on a beautiful, very family friendly and super fun (for me) hike.

The hike was full of lagoons, and these funny cypress trees that would just have these little peaks in the water (I don't know why...are they dying? are they growing?) and Spanish Moss. I love Spanish Moss but didn't knew it grew this far north. What a delightful surprise.

I took just terrible pictures, all blurry. Normally outdoor pictures are what my camera excels at. Perhaps having Eleanor on my back made me shakier than I realized.
Isn't this pretty? The trees leaning over the path with the Spanish Moss draping down. It makes me feel like I am in a marshy southern place.

I love that last picture. You're Super-mom and you have the photos to prove it.
